Cafe Kai :A quaint little corner

Hilton’s new Café Kai is that place where guest could just relax over a hot cuppa or a fresh juice and a salmon bagel or an oven fresh fruity Danish.

Café Kai offers breakfast, an all-day dining menu and a grab ‘n’ go range. The alltime favourite Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, the whole wheat bagel with cottage cheese, cherry tomato, rocket leaves, aged parmesan, sliced pear, caramelize red onions, fried egg topped with a poached egg and béarnaise sauce, battered ham and cheese sandwich, toasted English muffin with Parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomato, shallots, rocket salad and red pesto panini, chicken enchilada omelet and the Kai waffle with roasted young coconut, mixed berry compote, cream and icing snow are among the popular breakfast favourites on the menu.

A few of the all-time favourites on the ‘All Day Menu’ includes the Bangers and Mash - home-made artisanal lamb and chicken sausage on mash, glazed carrots and peas served with onion gravy, the NY Black Iron Burger; a prime beef patty made to Chef ’s secret recipe, topped with cheddar cheese, caramelize­d onions, French Dijon mustard on white bun which is a definite “must try”. The roasted Berkshire pork tenderloin­crusted with panko comes with grilled vegetables, spätzle, potato salad, yellow lentil, shallots and soy mustard sauce are some of the popular items from the ‘All Day Menu’. Kai’s fish curry served with coconut rice and condiments is a popular Sri Lankan platter.

Café Kai also offers the grab and go range from hand crafted chocolates to decadent cakes, French pastries, wraps, healthy salads, smoothies, sandwiches, fruit cups, everyone’s favourite the savoury beef sandwich with mayo, cheese and gherkin are a few of the many items on the shelf ready to be picked up.

The Grand Finale of the ‘Sirasa Voice Teens’, the popular reality programme, was held on Sunday, 9th August 2020 at the Stein Studios Rathmalana. Eight finalists Hashen Dulanjana, Shemil Clinson, Amelia Wijesuriya, Adithya Weliwatta, Hesara Bandara, Madhuvy Vaithaling­am, Ishitha Premnath and Erandi Heshani, who contested in the Grand Finale where talented contestant Hashen Dulanjana grabbed the title. Madhuvy Vaithialin­gam, Hashen Dulanjana, Ishitha Premnath and Erandi Heshani were in the fray vying for honours at the grand finale showcasing their outstandin­g singing talents, where Hashen reached the top winning the first ‘Sirasa Voice Teens’ title for 2020. The winner Hashen Dulanjana was a member of Sanuka Wickremasi­nghe’s team. Sanuka Wicramasin­ghe, Ashanthi De Alwis, Raini Charuka and Dumal Warnakulas­uriya contribute­d as coaches to the success story of Voice Teens where glamorous Stephanie Siriwarden­a hosted the programme.

‘The Voice Teens’ global franchise was introduced to Sri Lanka by Sirasa TV early this year. This is considered one of the most successful ‘Reality TV’ formats with over 400 renowned coaches worldwide, which has created a worthy platform for thousands of aspiring singers, many who have gone onto have successful singing careers. The franchised reality programme is produced in over 185 countries. Produced by Stein Studios, the largest production facility in South Asia, telecastin­g on Sirasa TV on weekends, where it reached finale on 9th August.

Since the beginning of the series, several contestant­s have been featured on The Voice Global YouTube channel bringing recognitio­n to our country through the talent of our youth. For the first time in the reality TV history of the country contestant­s performanc­e reached over 10 million YouTube views.
