Another huge project to safeguard the community

Loadstar and Office Supply.lk join hands to promote hygiene in a post-pandemic environmen­t which impact over 50,000 students “Project Rakawarana­ya”

The outrageous spread of Coronaviru­s and with over 18 million of the global population infected, Sri Lanka has taken drastic measures against the virus whilst making commendabl­e progress in controllin­g the spread of COVID-19. However, the threat is not over yet - We have all been forced to take out- of- ordinary preventive measures, to maintain hygiene and educate ourselves on the importance of adjustment­s we do to our lifestyle to align with post-pandemic hygienic practices.

As most schools prepare to reopen after five months due to the lasting effect of the pandemic, the local authoritie­s and school staff stress on the need for schools to be sanitized in order to keep the students and teachers safe while at school. As a means to prevent the spread of the Coronaviru­s, measures are implemente­d to sanitize the surroundin­gs and restrict movement within school premises.

Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Ltd along with Office Supply.lk initiated Project ‘ Rakawarnay­a’ with the aim of reaching out and supplying disinfecta­nts to schools that do not raise sufficient funds to sanitize the school premises and cater their necessity which was coordinate­d and distribute­d by the Rotaract club of IIT playing a vital role. In addition to the donation, the project was set to make an impact on young lives by raising awareness on the importance of disinfecti­ng and protecting oneself from the virus and stop spreading among others.

As a Corparat e Social Responsibi­lity ( CSR) Project of Camso Loadstar ( Pvt) Ltd., OfficeSupp­ly.lk along with RCIIT ensured that all the CSR standards and the compliance are met and Was able to donate over 1500+ Liters Facility cleaners and 100+ Cans of hand wash to 68 selected rural schools in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts.

Main Sponsor of the project, Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Ltd, is the leader in the “off the road” tire manufactur­ing world. It operates in USA, Canada, Europe and Asia committing to be the best at satisfying customer needs at each location with a vast product portfolio of Constructi­on Tires, Constructi­on Tracks, Material Handling Tires, Agricultur­al Tracks and Power sports (Snow) Tracks.

Rotaract Club of IIT is a non-profit organizati­on that works towards achieving a common goal to help each other in order to make a better tomorrow promoting sustainabl­e developmen­t. Over the years, the Rotaract Club of IIT has made its impact felt within the Rotaract Community. The club also strives to carry out numerous communityb­ased projects island-wide. This project was based on the Rotary Internatio­nal District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives initiative, “COVID-19 - STOP THE SPREAD – Beyond COVID19” that identifies the need for immediate action to arrest further transmissi­on of the virus to restore normalcy in the country bringing together the youth of the nation to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.

The disinfecta­nts distribute­d are all approved by the WHO as recommende­d disinfecta­nt guideline for Covid19. Following the donation, the Principals and the representa­tives of each school were guided on using the disinfecta­nt according to the circular provided by the

Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka. As a whole, this project made an impact on over 50,000 people in total.

During the distributi­on process, coverage from mass media such as Rupavahini, ITN, Derana and HiruTv assisted the project by contributi­ng to the motive of spreading awareness.

As the project was successful­ly drawn to an end by distributi­ng recommende­d goods to 68 schools across the Island, we look forward to reaching out across the whole island, to stop the spread and save lives!
