A day in Puttalam

-

district of Puttalam in Sri Lanka is well known for many reasons; shin salts and a undance of coconuts to name a few. It is also a well-known district o ular amon tourists as well as for locals. Situated a few kilometres from Puttalam is Eluwankulama.

We went to Eluwankulama on uly . We settled our accommodations at “Cloud 9 resort”. his is one distincti e e erience for the hotel is situated in the middle of a dry forest where a ma imum area of trees has een sa ed while the resort was uilt and the en ironment is ery welcomin . Sa in as many trees as ossi le it is im ossi le for us to reach our rooms without ha in our heads knockin on wood a les which han down ripe from the trees.

At dusk ein in a comforta le room with the sense of ein in the middle of a forest was a one-of-a-kind feelin . he warm hospitality the ama in sounds of nature and certainly the fantastic swimmin pool a e a ery astoundin en ironment to this resort which was splendid.

We were offered a oat ride to one of the islands near y. If lucky the si hts of ea les soarin a o e the islands and over your heads would enhance the umpy deli htful ourney. There are many other irds yin a out as well. Most of the islands are left alone solely for wildlife to live in peace. There are some islands however where we could o and spend time en oyin a stunnin view of the land and sea from far away with the sea ree e around you.

It is also a reat time to see little sea creatures crawlin y the shores. f course the each had countless eautiful seashells; an ideal souvenir

Sadly we left the same day we arrived takin with us reat memories. We hope to return to this resort to spend the days in all the islands where people could visit soon.
