Hambantota district in need of teachers

There is a shortage of 198 teachers in the Hambantota district, Southern province Governor Dr.Willie Gamage said at a Hambantota District Coordination Committee meeting recently.

"Parents want to send their children to popular schools.We are concerned about teacher transfers and substitute teachers,” he said. Three hundred teacher appointments would be given to Higher Diploma holders to fill in vacant posts and solve shortage of teachers in Southern province schools. The appointments had been delayed because of pandemic situation.(
