-

Over the years, Coca-Cola is warm and cheerful Christmas advertising campaigns have been eagerly awaited by generations and the year 2020 is no different.

However, keeping the global pandemic in mind, the 2020 Coca- Cola Christmas advert delivers a message urging people all over the world to be there for their loved ones as our love and support is the greatest gift we can give in Christmas 2020.

Truly, Coca-Cola has become synonymous with Santa Claus as the beloved Santa has been featured in Coca-Cola adverts since the 1920s! Although the beverage giant did not invent Santa, its colourful, warm and fuzzy Christmas adverts featuring a jolly Santa Claus are loved around the world. Today sharing a Coca-Cola with family and friends during the holiday season is a part and parcel of annual festivities.

Many would be surprised to note that the big, jolly man in a red suit with a white beard didn't always look the way he does today. Coca- Cola helped shape the image of Santa in fact, many people are surprised to learn that prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky- looking elf. The Coca-Cola Company originally decided to link Santa Claus and Christmas to CocaCola as a drink, because most people felt that the beverage was exclusively for the summertime.

The first advertisements of the 1920s and 1930s that included Santa helped remind consumers that Coca- Cola was ideal for every month of the year, including the winter holidays. Today Santa Claus is recognized throughout the world as a fun and jovial icon, synonymous with the joy and festivities of the Christmas season.
