The Kingsbury’s Tenku opens its doors

-

The Kingsbury Colombo declared open ‘Tenku’, the Japanese restaurant, recently at the Hotel’s rooftop.

Offering a specially curated menu by internationally experienced Japanese Master Chef Toshiyuki Okabe, Tenku gives diners the largest selection of sushi and sashimi, comprising more than 50 varieties, a special menu at the private Teppanyaki room; and an a la carte menu with an extensive range of dishes.

Fresh and flavourful ingredients and light seasoning; the seeming simplicity of its preparation belies the complex art behind it. Teppanyaki is a style of ancient Japanese cooking that has embraced modern performance art. As a cooking technique,

Teppanyaki, literally meaning grilling on an iron plate, in Japanese, is popular the world over for its unique flavour, coupled with the entertainment value it offers. When at a Teppanyaki table, guests get to choose how guests want their food prepared, and decide on the type and amount of seasoning. Diners also get to decide on the oil you want in the dish, as well as the meat, seafood or noodle of their choice.

The skill of the Teppanyaki Chef, as well as the finest ingredients that are used, are the main reasons why Teppanyaki is a luxurious indulgence. At Tenku, the carefully curated Teppan menu consists of Lobster Tail, Wagyu Strip Loin, Norwegian Salmon, Baby Octopus andLamb Chops, just to name a few. A special

Teppanyakiselection with Edamame, Miso Soup and Green Tea Ice Cream and Fresh Cut Fruits, is also on offer.

With a wide range of authentic dishes and beverages, including the largest collection of Sake in the city, ‘Tenku’, translating to ‘sky’ in Japanese, is the ultimate tribute to authentic Japanese fare, on several sensory levels.

Chairman and Chief Executive Hayleys PLC. Mohan Pandithage, Managing Director Hayleys Leisure Sector, Rohan Karr and Director Gamini Gunaratne, were present at the occasion, along with a group of special invitees.
