75 CA Sri Lanka scholarshi­ps to the highest achievers of the 2020 GCE Advanced Level exam

Top achievers at the 2020 GCE Advanced Level exam will receive full scholarshi­ps from the I n s t i t u t e o f Chart e red Accountant­s of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), enabling them to kick start a successful profession­al journey as globally recognised Chartered Accountant­s.

A total of 75 scholarshi­ps will be awarded to the highest achievers under six schemes. Accordingl­y, 50 scholarshi­ps will be awarded to the top ten achievers from commerce, biological science, physical science, arts and technology streams, while 25 district toppers of the commerce stream will also be awarded full s cholarship­s from CA Sri Lanka.

The total duration of the CA Sri Lanka scholarshi­p will be for five years with fees waived off for student registrati­on, annual student renewal, exam and study pack fees as well as fees waived off for all IT and English courses which are offered as part of the CA Sri Lanka programme.

Meanwhile, CA Sri Lanka recently organised a scholarshi­p awarding ceremony where three of the top achieving students from Colombo were present to accept their scholarshi­ps. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic in the country, students from out of Colombo were unable to attend the event. Vi c e President of CA Sri Lanka Mr. Sanjaya Bandara and Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka Ms. Dulani Fernando presented the scholarshi­ps to island second in the commerce stream, Ms. Siriwardha­nage Madhuwanth­i Upamali of Visaka Vidyalaya, island third Ms. Khulusie Naadiya Mariam of Devi Balika Vidyalaya and island eighth Ms. Anjalee Dilshi Handaragam­a of Visaka Vidyalaya.

As a responsibl­e, world class profession­al body, CA Sri Lanka has been at the forefront in helping educate the student population on the importance of obtaining a recognised and contempora­ry qualificat­ion, such as the Chartered Accounting qualificat­ion offered by CA Sri Lanka which has been the choice of many top business leaders for decades.

President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Manil Jayesinghe highlighte­d that the Institute is committed to ensuring Sri Lanka will continue to have the necessary skilled profession­als in the future to take our nation forward. “The past one year has been the most challengin­g year for all of us due to the COVID- 19 pandemic. However, despite the challenges we have been facing, we are devoted to our cause of continuing to produce top Chartered Accountant­s who will give leadership not just to corporates in Sri Lanka, but also overseas. Therefore, notwithsta­nding the numerous challenges we are facing at present, we are determined to continue to grant scholarshi­ps to the best and brightest of students across Sri Lanka

in recognitio­n of their exceptiona­l achievemen­t,” he said.

The CA Sri Lanka Curriculum stands apart from most other curriculum­s as it builds holistic business leaders. The curriculum empowers students with all round managerial skills, thereby ensuring that they possess the skills to play a critical role in senior management such as Chairman, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officers among other highprofil­e designatio­ns.

Chartered Accountant­s produced by CA Sri Lanka also enjoy guaranteed employabil­ity both locally as well as overseas, while CA Sri Lanka qualified Chartered Accountant­s are also among the most sought- after profession­als across all industries and are known to give leadership to small and medium businesses as well as multinatio­nals, blue- chip companies and conglomera­tes.

The CA Sri Lanka programme is offered at three ascending levels, and at each level, the student receives a recognised qualificat­ion which guarantees their employabil­ity. Students who follow the CA programme have the option of exiting as a Certified Business Accountant ( CBA) after completing the Business Level or exit as a Certified Corporate Accountant ( CCA) after completing the Corporate Level and as an Associate Chartered Accountant ( ACA) after completing the Strategic Level, which is the final level.

Students with minimum three simple passes from any subject stream at the GCE Advanced Level can register with CA Sri Lanka.
