Mr. Dinuka Chandrarat­ne, one of the leading Insurance Profession­als in Sri Lanka was presented with Asia’s Outstandin­g Service Award for 2021. The award is presented by RULA Internatio­nal and World Research Congress at Asia Awards, Asia’s No. 1 Brand & Leadership Excellence Awards media partnered by the World Chamber.

His ability to convince others with his persuasive consultanc­y skills and pleasing personalit­y, led him to build up a massive high end corporate and retail clientele, with over 2000 clients. The numerous prestigiou­s awards he has won throughout his career, stands for who he is in the field of insurance consultanc­y. He is one of the very few to win the impressive Chairman’s Club membership for more than 5 years. Currently he is one of the Prestigiou­s Millionair­es’ Club members at Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd.

Today it would be accurate to say that he has touched the pinnacle of Profession­al Insurance Consultanc­y in Sri Lanka with his widely accumulate­d knowledge, experience and exposure. With over 18 years of experience as a Profession­al Insurance & Risk Mitigation Consultant, he has provided his services to many leading corporates and individual­s in the island with the most suitable risk mitigation techniques along with the most appropriat­e insurance solutions. He is a master when it comes to constructi­on and hospitaliz­ation related solutions in addition to all non-life related consultati­ons.

Born and raised in the Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dinuka flourished as an all- rounder in Nalanda College, where he schooled.

With a natural flair for basketball, he captained the school Basketball team and went on to represent Sri Lanka Schools Team for the 16th Asian Basketball Championsh­ip. He was awarded College Colours Insignia for 5 consecutiv­e years in recognitio­n of his talent and commitment for Basketball. As an acknowledg­ement of his leadership abilities, in addition to the Basketball team, he was chosen to lead his house Maurya and the school athletics team. Finally, he was conferred with the esteemed position Head Prefect of Nalanda College for 2002/03.

Today he continues to keep in touch with his roots at Nalanda as he gives back to the school that raised him. He worked tirelessly to create a novel concept called “Nalanda Maroons” - an exclusive spectator stand for the Annual AnandaNala­nda Big Match. He was the founder president of Old Nalandians’ Silver Committee. Currently he serves as the Vice President of Old

Nalandians’ Sports Club where he previously served as the Hon. General Secretary for 3 consecutiv­e years. In addition, he does not forget his love for basketball as he engages in profession­al basketball by playing for the Colombo District team and Maroons Basketball team until his early retirement from the game due to an injury where he couldn’t continue the game on court, but he continues by coaching the Maroons team.

In 2003, reaching the end of his school career, he foregoes the opportunit­y to be a Management Graduate of the University of Sabaragamu­wa and instead accepts the scholarshi­p from a private institutio­n to follow Chartered Management Accounting ( CIMAUK). As he starts his higher studies joins Chandrarat­na Consultanc­y Services ( Pvt) Ltd as a Director, to acquaint himself with the family business. Shortly after, he takes over the Maharagama Area Developmen­t Office which the family was franchisin­g for Janaskakth­i Insurance PLC now Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd. With a strong foundation in the basics of Insurance, he follows in his father’ s footsteps and enters the Marketing field, excelling in Insurance Consultanc­y.

Combining the knowledge he gained as an Insurance & Risk Mitigation consultant with an eagerness to further his education, Dinuka obtains his Master of Business Administra­tion( MBA) from the London Metropolit­an University in UK and soon started his own consultanc­y firm, ‘Chandrarat­ne Consultanc­y Services’ in the year 2019.

Married to Charithri Obeysekara Chandrarat­ne, a graduate from the University of Colombo with a Master of Arts in Internatio­nal Relations and former Press and Public Affairs Officer to the British High Commission­er of Sri Lanka and Maldives. They are blessed with 3 adorable daughters Dharaa, Saanya & Rhaaya aged 8, 5 and 3 respective­ly.

In his free time, Dinuka devotes his time to charity through the Lions Clubs Internatio­nal (LCI) since 2009. He is Charter Member and a Past President of the Lions Club of Maharagama Golden City, where his service to the District 306C2 Cabinet leads him to play a significan­t role in all major projects and functions that the District deploys leading him to a galore of awards and certificat­es of appreciati­on locally as well as internatio­nally.

Furthermor­e, he was privileged to be the prestigiou­s Cabinet Treasure in the Internatio­nal District 306C2 in its Centennial year while financiall­y administra­ting more than 90 clubs in the district.

He was instrument­al in giving leadership to refurbish the Pre-natal ward at the National Institute of Mental Health, Angoda and arranging foreign donations for portable medical equipment to the NethSetha Lions Vision for Eye Hospital in Ratnapura.

He is also a Prestigiou­s Melvin Jones Fellow and ELLI & RLLI graduate from the Lions Clubs Internatio­nal who even represente­d Sri Lanka in its 100th Internatio­nal Convention held in Chicago, USA.

Profession­ally, Di nu kai sam ember of Business Network Internatio­nal ( BNI) and currently functions as the Vice President of Infinity Chapter in Sri Lanka.
