When we consider the unique challenges of the last two years, it’s reassuring to see students with determination reaching their education goals. Young Sri Lankans with talent and ambition deserve every opportunity to succeed, and since its opening in 2019, UTS in Sri Lanka has established a solid track record in providing such opportunities.

Students encouraged to achieve their full potential

As the pathway to the University of Technology Sydney ( UTS), Australia’s number one young university , UTS in Sri lanka offers leading academic English programmes, UTS Foundation

Studies, and higher education diplomas designed with UTS entry requirements in mind. Every year, over 90 percent of the College’s diploma graduates achieve the marks they need to enter a UTS undergraduate degree. These impressive results are achieved through a combination of ongoing academic support, small class sizes, and practical learning. Students are encouraged to achieve their full potential as they gain skills that will equip them to succeed at UTS and beyond.

Prepared to handle any situation

One of the first students to join the Diploma of Engineering at UTS in Sri lanka was Vishnie Babeendran, who enrolled in

October 2019. She has subsequently demonstrated unfailing dedication in response to every challenge of her study journey – including the arrival of a global pandemic. Vishnie commenced her studies on campus but had to adapt suddenly to Live Online during her second semester when Sri Lanka went into strict lockdown. Despite this unexpected switch to a new way of learning, she maintained excellent grades, and distinguished herself as the first winner of the UTS in Sri Lanka to UT, Sydney Pathway Scholarship. Vishnie says, “From day one, UTS in Sri Lanka supported me in every possible way. I highly recommend UTS in Sri Lanka for any student who is looking for an Australian degree transfer pro

gramme. They helped me to reach my goals and I have developed lots of skills, such as team building, communications, and time management. I feel it has prepared me to handle any situation and adapt to the Australian teaching style.”

After successfully completing her Diploma, Vishnie was accepted into second year Civil Engineering at UTS. While still studying online, she was included in the UTS Faculty of Engineering and IT Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement in 2021. She was also recently awarded the UTS Engineering Undergraduate Achievement Prize of AUD $2000.

Yowuna has obtained his student visa and is ready to travel to Australia as soon as borders reopen. He is currently continuing his second year of Civil Engineering at UTS, studying online.

Scholarship opportunities

The Sri Lanka to UTS Pathway Scholarship is awarded to the topperforming diploma student going to UTS in Semester One and Semester Two each year. It provides 25 percent off tuition fees for the remainder of the winner’s first

degree at UTS. All UTS in Sri Lanka diploma graduates automatically receive the Sri Lanka to Sydney Pathway Fee Scholarship, which entitles recipients to a $7000 AUD per year fee scholarship for the remainder of their degree at UTS. For a business student with four semesters remaining, this is a saving of $14,000 AUD, and for an Engineering student with six semesters remaining, it’s a saving of $21,000 AUD.

Students who register before 30 September will be guaranteed a 25% scholarship and a waiver of their registration fee for their studies at UTS in Sri Lanka. There will also be a limited number of merit- based 50% and 100% scholarships available for this intake. Top students will be selected for these awards through an interview process.
