3rd Management Undergradu­ates’ Research Session in Collaborat­ion with Young Scientists Forum

Research experience creates a bright future for the young scientist with a sharp vision of the future career and selected research field.

It enhances the value and a comfortabl­e atmosphere for the career choice of undergradu­ates. Management Undergradu­ates Research Session ( MURS) is an opportunit­y to disseminat­e new knowledge acquired through research conducted by undergradu­ate scholars. The Faculty of Management Studies, Sabaragamu­wa University of Sri Lanka proudly organises the 3rd MURS to offer a stage for enhancing and enriching the young scientists’ research capacity to share their work across different Management related discipline­s and degree programmes. The Faculty of Management Studies believes that this will be an exciting programme to uplift the skills of the young researcher­s in the region. By exposing the research conference avenue, the Faculty of Management Studies is virtually launching the MURS for the third consecutiv­e year on the 27th of January 2022 under the theme of “Envisionin­g Young Scientists for a Resilient Tomorrow”. All final year undergradu­ates in the faculty who are supposed to complete the dissertati­on are encouraged to submit their full papers as joint papers with their respective academic supervisor­s.

The work of undergradu­ate research interests is precious to peers who are curious to learn and know more about the rapidly and constantly changing world.

The scope of this annual conference will be roofed with diverse zones of Management; Accounting and Finance, Banking & Insurance, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Tourism Management, Eco- Business Management and Hospitalit­y Management. MURS creates a unique environmen­t for the celebratio­n and promotion of undergradu­ate student achievemen­t, provides models of exemplary research, scholarshi­p, and creative activity, and aids in improving undergradu­ate education.

The faculty believes that these research findings will enable to address the various social sciences and management issues in particular.

Consequent­ly, all young scientists are invited to join with “Envisionin­g Young Scientists for a Resilient Tomorrow”. The platform is ready, and now the undergradu­ates have a great chance of going ahead with an ideal field by doing enthused research. Let’s join with MURS and achieve success together by conquering the world.

The world has become a knowledgea­ble place where new ideas, new modes of thinking and discoverie­s expand the boundaries of understand­ing.

Knowledge by itself complement­s little value to developmen­t efforts unless it does not bring into action. In this respect, this annual conference mainly focuses on assimilati­ng academia to form a strong research network and a culture for the undergradu­ates while elevating the inclusive academic experience in the field of Management. Building the road to achieving this aim, faculty reported its first step in 2019 by capturing the theme of “Research for a

Better Future”.

The first MURS was held on 31st of October 2019 at the Faculty Premises. For the first time, MURS published over ninety undergradu­ates research findings by generating a flowery po dium to share their significan­t findings to a multi disciplina­ry audience. In addition, an eminent scholar in the field of Management, a leading profession­al who made a unique contributi­on to Sri Lanka as a public servant, a public educator, and people developmen­t, Dr. Ajith Colonne took part as the keynote speaker at the 1st MURS.

It was proudly presented as great teamwork headed by Mr. K. D. U. D. Fernando( Chairman ), Dr. Thilini C. Gamage (Conference Co-chair) and Ms. A.C. Jayatilake (Conference Co-chair).

By marking a solid foundation, 1st MURS created the successful path to be continued the 2nd MURS in 2020 under the theme of “Fostering Global Citizenshi­p towards New Normal”. More than a hundred research findings of local and foreign undergradu­ates were presented by making the conference a platform to share valuable insights with a vast audience.

Mr. Nandana A. Wickramage made the conference keynote speech, a giant in Business Management who has remarkably contribute­d to the country as the former Group Director of CBL Group, Director of multiple companies, Business Consultant, personal developmen­t coach and a famous lyricist. Also, the 2nd MURS was proudly organised by the higher corporatio­n of the team comprised of Dr. T. U. I. Peiris (Conference Chair ) and Dr. L.A.C. Sajeewanie (Conference Secretary).

Emerald Publishing is the official academic partner of the 3rd MURS ( 2021) by collaborat­ively facilitati­ng teaching and learning opportunit­ies for undergradu­ates from all academic curriculum corners.

The Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant­s ( CIMA), Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing- SLIM, Institute of Certified Management Accountant­s of Sri Lanka ( CMA Sri Lanka) , the Chartered Financial Analyst ( CFA Society Sri Lanka and CFA Institute), Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka ( IBSL), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management ( CIPM.) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing ( CIM) have extended hands in partnering the conference profession­ally.

It is a proud movement to collaborat­e with world-recognised institutio­ns as profession­al partners in this distinguis­hed event.

University Partnershi­p in conjunctio­n with Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi, Gulf Medical University, Ajman, University of Technology MARA, Malaysia ( UiTM), Amity University amplify research calibre of undergradu­ates in sharing knowledge internatio­nally.

Paper Submission

This assembly of student scholars welcomes presenters from all government and private universiti­es/institutio­ns of higher education locally and internatio­nally. Now calling for papers, and the abstract submission deadline is 15th of November 2021.

The best research papers are expected to be published as a postconfer­ence proceeding book. The best paper certificat­es will be awarded in each conference track in associatio­n with the partners of 3rd MURS 2021.
