BTS secure highest new entry

The rock band Coldplay and the pop group BTS secured the highest new entry on the UK Singles chart when their collaboration ‘My Universe’ debuted at No: 3. The song could not break the hold of current singles champ Ed Sheeran at No: 1 with ‘Shivers’ and the chart runner Sir Elton John & Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart’, the remix by the Australian act PNAU holding the No: 2 spot.

‘My Universe’ a synth pop song that was released on September 24 secured 27,000 chart sales across all formats. Further ‘My Universe’ was the biggest downloaded song in a single week for 2021. The track is a bilingual song in English and Korean. Coldplay begin the song with BTS coming in later. BTS sing both in Korean and English. ‘My Universe’ appears on Coldplay’s forthcoming album ‘Music Of The Sphere’. The song is the 19th top 10 hit single for the British band Coldplay in the UK while it is the fourth for the Korean group in the same territory.

Meanwhile Coldplay is to stage a one-off launch gig on October 12 at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire for their new album. It will be for fans who pre-ordered the new album which will be officially out on October 15.
