Rotary Sri Lanka - highlight @ Rotary Internatio­nal Annual Report 2021

Rotary Sri Lanka that conceptual­ized the ‘ Stop the Spread’ project during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that garnered the support of 187 top athletes of Sri Lankal that Included the legendary Kumar Sangakkara to Olympic medallion Susanthika shared messages on Facebook, Linked In, Instagram and tweets about the ‘ new behavior required” to fight the Covid-19 virus. The project went on to launch a ‘ Covid-19 certificat­ion programme with SLSI’ that is now part of a DNA among four hundred energies said the Director Dr Rohantha Athukorala. The project being featured in the Rotary Internatio­nal Annual Report 2021 is a big win for Sri Lanka. The team that implemente­d went on to win a global award of Rotary called ‘ Rotary People of Action’ - first by any Sri Lankan in the 91 year history said the communique of Rotary.

Rotary Sri Lanka which produced top profession­al to Rotary Globally, in the likes of K Ravi Ravindran who went on to be the Global President for Rotary Internatio­nal and the Internatio­nal Trustee for the $4 billion Rotary Fund and there after the 1st Female Governor of Rotary Gowri Rajan went on to serve on many Rotary Internatio­nal committees. Another top Rotarian Dushan Soza was selected to be on the ‘ Strategic Planning Committee- for 4 years which compliment­s the accolade that the ‘ Stop the Spread Project’ has received Globally said Dr Rohantha Athukorala the project Director for Rotary Sri Lanka.
