Jo-Leen, Loriant bag Singles titles
Top seeds Malaysian players Jo-Leen Saw and Lorant Gyori of Hungary clinched the Girls and Boys Singles titles as the curtains of the ITF J5 Junior Circuit Week 2 championship came down at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
Both victors raced to win the Singles titles with minimum fuss as they kept up to their reputation. Jo-Leen overcame Yevhenila Zelenska of Ukraine in straight sets to take hold of the Girls Singles title while Lorant too had an easy 2-0 win against Chun Tang of Chinese Taipei in the three setter finale.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka’s Doubles pair Chathurya Nillaweera and Kiran Vairavanathan who won the title on Week 1 last week, retained it this week with a convincing 2-0 win against fourth seeded pair Venkat Rishi Batlanki of USA and Hitesh Chauhan of India. In the girls category South Korean pair Ji Hyun Kang and Chaewon Whang recorded a hard fought 2-1 win over the Ukraine pair Diana Smolonska and Yevhenila Zelenska.
