Petes thrash Pathana by innings
St. Peter's thrashed Isipathana by an innings and 35 runs while two other encounters ended in draws of the four Under-19 traditional 2-day cricket games yesterday. Isipathana were totally outplayed by the Peterites, as they restricted Isipathana for 114 in their first innings and declared at 326-5 in response. The Peterites bowled out Isipathana for 177 in their second essay, leaving them 35 runs behind from clearing an innings defeat. Danal Hemananda (108) and Nimuthu Gunawardena (100*) scored centuries for the winners, while Shannon Rodrigo completed a match bag of eight wickets, including a five-fer.
Devapathiraja, Rathgama claimed honours of their drawn game against St. Benedict's at Kotahena, in which Pawan Sandesh and Jeewaka Shasheen were impressive with the bat for the visitors. Despite bowling out Ananda for 86, De Mazenod failed to tighten the grip in their drawn game at Kandana. The match between Zahira and D.S. Senanayake ends today at Maradana.
