UK’s newest No: 1 single is a Disney hit

The Disney animated musical Encanto has produced the UK’s newest No:1 song with ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’. The Latin pop song which also has hip hop and Broadway influences is performed by the voice cast members Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero and Stephanie Beatriz.

The song began its chart journey at 66 four weeks ago and then catapulted to the top 10 at 4. Last week it climbed a notch to 3 and this week eased its way to the top of the chart. This week the song had 6.3 million streams as it reached the pinnacle of the singles chart.

‘ We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ is the first Disney original to top the UK singles chart. The song is penned and produced by Lin Manuel Miranda. The Encanto soundtrack also has ‘Surface Pressure’ by Jessica Darrow on the UK top 10 singles chart. This week the song moved up from 8 to No: 5 for 27-year-old Darrow from Brooklyn, New York. ‘Surface Pressure’ is termed an elder sister anthem. Darrow is an actress, singer and voiceover artist by profession. ‘Surface Pressure’ is also written by Lin Manuel Miranda.
