Denara Institute’s programmes to empower women

The Denara Training Institute – its name is of Persian origin and refers to “children of heaven and earth”-- was establishe­d in October 2021 with a vision of training young women of all communitie­s in technical and social skills.

Centrally located in Colombo 5, Denara aims to empower women to be independen­t and take charge of their lives. A two part programme seeks to impart employable skills and social skills needed to transition the student to an independen­t adult life. Fathima Aziz, Director, Denara Training Institute, says they are looking forward to launching their training programmes.

Their first programme which coincides with the celebratio­n of Internatio­nal Women’s Day is a cookery demonstrat­ion in associatio­n with Singer Sri Lanka (PLC) featuring Jovanka Jayaweera of Big Bird Delights on Saturday, March 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at their premises in Mangala Gardens, Colombo 5.

Denara will charge a nominal fee for the courses they plan to offer which include English language training courses, including Spoken English, Speech and Drama.
