Isuru Hathurusinghe’s passion for all things 3D took him on a path of computer animation that draws on childhood experiences and memories

On Instagram, 28-year-old Isuru Hathurusinghe describes himself as a 3D generalist, artist, game designer and animator among many other roles. Simply put, he is a digital content creator whose work is largely inspired by Sri Lankan arts, crafts and folklore.

Isuru studied commerce for his A/ Level exams but was also interested and involved in the arts thanks to his father.

“In 2011 and 2012, when I was still in school I was keen on learning more about how my beloved 3D animated films and games were created. I also took a few diploma courses in these areas, but learned a lot through selfstudy as well.” His passion for animated films and video games, saw him joining the Arimac digital agency in 2013.

Since then, Isuru has been involved in the production of video games and 3D animation and worked on popular Sri Lankan computer games such as Kanchayudha and Niro, contributing to the development of the main characters in these games.

Currently working as an Associate Director of Animation at Arimac, he also runs Izzaartz - a computer animation and art platform that looks to combine proprietary technology and creative talent to develop computeranimated story and arts with memorable characters and heartwarming stories that appeal to audiences.

Isuru believes his passion for the arts and various forms of media has helped him develop a unique style of content creation, in terms of video games, animated films and even digital art.

“I have released many creations that speak to the hearts of Sri Lankans and their encouragement has been a great experience and strength,” he notes adding that he “sought to bring the arts and legends associated with Sri Lankan culture to the present day” through his creations. His own wonderful childhood experiences and memories are inspiration for his work.

In his spare time, he finds more fields to explore: architecture visualisation, oil painting, wood carving and even designing robots and other innovations.
