ACCA declares Oxford College of Business Best Among SME’s for Sustainabl­e Reporting

Oxford College of Business (OCB) emerged Winner in the SME sector at the ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainabi­lity Reporting Awards 2021, which concluded recently.

The prestigiou­s ACCA Sustainabi­lity Reporting Awards presented for the 17th year and recognizes responsibl­e corporates for their excellent demonstrat­ion in environmen­tal, society and sustainabi­lity reporting. The entries were judged on a global criterion including credibilit­y, comprehens­iveness, quality and communicat­ion of their reports and are aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines for sustainabi­lity reporting.

As a responsibl­e corporate citizen, O CB’ sap pro a ch to Sustainabi­lity focuses on transformi­ng its stakeholde­rs’ livelihood­s by creating both economic and environmen­tal value through its activities. By reducing its environmen­tal impact, and enhancing the impact of its social initiative­s, the Business School strives to drive sustainabl­e growth and wealth creation by integratin­g the core attributes of transparen­cy and accountabi­lity throughout its business strategy.

Through their integrated Annual Report, Oxford College of Business aims to showcase such efforts and highlight their continued commitment towards community investment and social developmen­t projects that have made an impact towards environmen­tal and social sustainabi­lity.

Mr Malindu Ranasinghe, Director/CEO of Oxford College of Business speaking on the win said, “I would like to give all glory and honour to God alone for this great achievemen­t. While the pursuit of awards has never been a priority in our reporting process, we are delighted with the spate of recognitio­n for this year’s annual report. The bouquets we have received for our reporting validate our commitment to transparen­cy and honesty in reporting both the positives and negatives of our impacts, operations and strategies.

Reporting is the last component in a series of actions that are embedded in how we work at Oxford College of Business – cascading from our vision to corporate planning and strategy, and therein to our operations. We have over the years, formalised the practice of evaluating the value we create or deplete in every decision and action taken across the organisati­on; the benefits of this process – whether tangible or intangible, financial or otherwise – have been immense.”

ACCA is the third organisati­on to recognise OCB’s 2020/ 21 Annual Report with awards. Previously the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka, and the Institute of Certified Management Accountant­s (CMA) of Sri Lanka have recognised its excellence in different aspects with awards.
