World Water Day 2022
World Water Day has been celebrated annually on March 22 since 1993, in order to raise awareness of the lack of access to clean water faced by over 2 billion people around the world and to remind people with access to it not to waste it.
The right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation is recognised as a basic human right.
The UN General Assembly declared the period from March 22, 2018 to March 22, 2028 as the International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development, to meet the increasing water-related challenges.
The 6th Goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN member states, is “Clean Water and Sanitation for all by 2030”.
