Police record season's third win

Ranmith Jayasena completed a fine ton -- a 129 to help Tamil Union mass 527 for 9 declared in their Major Club Emerging Cricket Tournament match against Nugegoda S & WC played at P Sara Stadium.

Earlier Supun Kavinda hit 173 which laid the foundation for Tamil Union’s huge score. Nugegoda S &WC in their turn ended the day on 177 for 5.

Negombo CC made a bold reply of 322 for 7 in reply to Saracens SC’s score of 353 runs in the match played at Reid Avenue.

Meanwhile Police SC cruised to their third win in the season when they beat Ragama CC by seven wickets in their match played early this week at Police Park.

Ragama SC had the first innings honours when they bowled out Police for 177--eight runs ahead of their first innings total of 185 but visitors suffered a huge collapse in the second innings to be bowled out for 84 runs, leaving an easy target of 92 to win. Police reached the target with seven wickets to spare after Asel Sigara hit a half ton (51). He also picked up four wickets in Ragama’s second innings.

The matches will be continued today.
