UoC’s Medical Faculty celebrates 150 years

The Central Bank this week issued a commemorative coin to mark the 150th anniversary of the University of Colombo’s Faculty of Medicine.

The coin with a face value of Rs. 20 was issued in recognition of its contribution to the nation as the first medical faculty in the country.

A total of 500,000 pieces of the seven lobed coin will be issued into circulation through licenced commercial banks. It can be used for payments along with existing other currency notes and coins in circulation, an official of the Central Bank said.
