Protest march from Katuwapitiya to Kochchikade seeking justice for Easter Sunday attack victims

-

A protest march was held yesterday seeking justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks in 2019. The march included people from St. Sebastian's Church in Katuwapitiya, St. Peter and Paul's Church in Katunayake and St. Mary's Mother of Refuge Church in Tudella.

The protest began with prayers at Katuwapitiya St. Sebastian's church, the tragic location of one of the horrific Easter Sunday bomb attacks. The march concluded in prayer at St. Anthony's shrine in Kochchikade.

Another protest was held at Green Park Junction in Negombo. The protest comprised members of local welfare organisations and fisheries associations in the area. Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith addressed the crowd and condemned the current government for using the Easter attacks to come into power.

"They tried to use fear tactics to create division between communities, especially against the Muslim community," he told the crowd.

The Cardinal said it was clear that a conspiracy was afoot and who the conspirators were was becoming more obvious by the day.

"They can take power, but they will not be able to hold onto it because God's justice will come upon them."
