The ‘Study Buddy Abans Nena Pahana’ CSR campaign was launched in collaboration with the ITN as its media partner. In line with Abans’ CSR strategy ‘Building Sustainable Communities’, Study Buddy Educational packages were distributed, free of charge, among O/L students from January 31 onwards.

The Study Buddy Play O/L App is an offline educational solution with the entire Ordinary Level syllabus compressed into just two 64GB SD cards. It is available in two separate packages for Grade 10 and 11. The packages contain a video series of over 2500 lessons on nine subjects conducted by leading government school teachers. The series offers three years’ worth of revision lessons in addition to two workbooks with over 2500 model questions (MCQ), provided free of charge. A 32GB SD card Study Buddy pack has been specially introduced for the benefit of Grade 5 scholarship Tamil medium students.

Study Buddy packs were distributed through Abans showrooms and almost 80 showrooms, including Ampara, Badulla, Thissamaharama, Galgamuwa, Anuradhapura, Ibbagamuwa, Melsiripura, Thambuttegama, Maho and Ja- Ela were already covered under the first phase of the CSR campaign. In addition, a special event was held at the

Mankadawala Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura. The second phase of the CSR campaign is already under way.

“The COVID-19 pandemic had severe adverse effects on kids’ education,” pointed out Abans Group, Chairperson Aban Pestonjee. She expressed her personal satisfaction at a technological solution as the Study Buddy proving successful at affording students the opportunity to continue their education uninterrupted.

The ‘Study Buddy Abans Nena Pahana’ CSR campaign was launched by Abans with the objective of empowering children of all communities. Study Buddy educational packages are a novel approach to learning, which allows students to circumvent the practical difficulties of continuing their education unimpeded.
