OrelPay Emerges Triumphant at LankaPay Technnovat­ion Awards

OrelPay, a unique and innovative­payment app by Orel Corporatio­n, a Sri Lankan multinatio­nal company in Industry 4.0, won the Gold Award in the Best Mobile Applicatio­n for Retail Payments via LankaQR ( FinTech) category and was recognised with a Merit Award in the Most Popular Digital Payment Product ( FinTech) at LankaPay Technnovat­ion Awards 2022. The award ceremony that was held at theShangri- La Colombo hotel was organised by Lanka Clear (Pvt) Ltd.to recognise innovation in payment technology, and the event marked OrelPay being awarded for the second time at LankaPay Technnovat­ion Awards.

The OrelPay app was introduced by Orel Corporatio­n to provide an innovative digital payment solution to the consumer—compared to other payment apps in Sri Lanka, OrelPay offers several unique features. The OrelPay app does not require opening new bank accounts to enjoy the full functional­ity of the app and the users can link any existing credit or debit card under Visa and Mastercard as well as any bank account in Sri Lanka.Furthermor­e, any new user can sign up with OrelPay without having to visit any location or contact any hotline, enabling users to easily and quickly register with the app from anywhere.OrelPay allows users to make various kinds of payments from the app such as utility bills, telephone bills, tuition fees, donations, and many more.

In addition to making payments that are listed in the OrelPay app, it also supports payments via anyLankaQR code, a universal payment platform by Lanka Clear that is increasing­ly gaining popularity. This enables users to pay a wider variety of payees including the highway toll fee. Making this payment option more versatile, OrelPay supports scanning images of QR codes that are sent by payees who are remote (using methods such as WhatsApp) in addition to scanning on-site QR codes through the camera.

Among other unique features, OrelPay allows access to some of the remarkable services offered by Orel Corporatio­n such as the Orel Unmanned Store and the Orange Bot. The Orel Unmanned Store is a fully automated convenienc­e store that is accessible 24/7. Customers can gain entrance to the store by scanning their OrelPay app at the entrance and they can self-checkout products using the OrelPay app. Similarly, the Orange Bot is a fully automated orange juice dispenser that makes orange juice by squeezing fresh oranges on demand. Customers initiate the orderand make the payment through the OrelPay app at the dispenser.
