The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has planned a three-day anti-government protest march demanding President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s resignation.

The march that starts today at 9 a. m. from Beruwala will end in Colombo on Tuesday, JVP Politburo member K. D. Lal Kantha said

“This protest march will end at the Lipton roundabout in Colombo and we will not march towards the protest site at Galle Face under any circumstance,” he emphasised.

He said the JVPs youth wing the Socialist Youth Union ( SYU) had already joined the ongoing anti-government protest at Galle Face, but as a political party, the JVP had no intention of joining the youthled public protests.

He stated that neither the JVP nor the National People's Power (NPP) will participate in the youth- led public demonstrations. "Our youth wing is already involved in this campaign. But we as a political party have no plans to join these protests."

Building the country without ousting these rulers is unimaginable he said, adding that establishing a people's gover nment through wide socio- economic and political reforms can no longer be delayed.

"This is a moment for the people," he continued, "and we call on them to act decisively and advance toward a new political culture that emerges from the ongoing people's struggle."
