What is Passover and how is it related to Easter?

-

In many languages, the word for Easter is derived from the Hebrew word for Passover, “Pesach”.

Passover is the commemoration of the liberation of the Israelites by Moses, from the Egyptians, which is told in the Old Testament of the Bible. Easter is named after it. Jesus’ liberation of mankind through his death (in the New Testament) and the liberation of the Israelites (in the Old Testament) are also often paralleled.
