Dilan shines in drawn game at Reid Avenue

A fighting and unbeaten knock of 61 inclusive of six boundaries and a six by Dilan Thabrew helped St. Benedict’s from jaws of defeat and denied Royal a victory in their Under19 Inter-School cricket encounter concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Royal made a formidable score of 286 for 7 on day one while in response St. Benedict's were bowled out for a low score of 141 runs. Made to follow on with task of erasing a deficit 145 runs, St. Benedict's were reeling at 45 for 5 before Thabrew came to rescue side with a fighting knock which enabling to hold on and end the day at 134 for 8.

In another traditiona­l match between St. Joseph’s and Ananda played at Ananda Mawatha, the hosts piled up 259 for the loss of 7 wickets with half tons coming from Lakshitha Kularatne and Nethma Karunaratn­e. Batting first St. Joseph’s declared their innings from their overnight total of 251 for 7.
