100 more scholarships were awarded to deserving young scholars in Season 13 of the CDB Sisudiri Scholarship Programme enabling these high achievers to pursue their educational ambitions. Sixty high achievers in the Grade 5 Scholarship and forty in the GCE Ordinary Level examinations were presented scholarships at a virtual event held recently. Chairman of the University Grants Commission and CDB Independent NonExecutive Director Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunge was the Chief Guest. The scholarship awards are held annually under the CDB’s Sustainability Agenda under which uplifting Child Education and Literacy is a priority platform in its ‘Socially Conscious’ pillar.

Understanding the importance of continuing education devoid of disruption due to financial challenges, CDB founded the Sisudiri programme in 2008 to empower young people with a quality education that would add to their future prowess in career advancement. High achievers in the Grade 5 scholarship examination are conferred an annual scholarship of Rs 10,000 each year over five years for a total of Rs 50,000, while Grade 11 scholars receive a grant of Rs 15,000 each over two years, totaling Rs 30,000.

Eligibility for Season 14 of the scholarship awards is evaluated on the criteria of economically underprivileged students who have successfully completed the Grade 5 scholarship and GCE O/ Level examinations in 2020. Also, Ranketi Savings Account holders who have sat for the respective examinations are eligible to apply. More information on the application process can be obtained from the nearest branch or the CDB website. https:// www.cdb.lk/si/our-initiatives/ cdb- sisudiri-14- si/
