Education Minister says 2021 O/L exams will not be delayed again

On Friday, Education Minister Ramesh Pathirana ruled out chances of delaying the G.C.E Ordinary Level examinatio­ns.

He was responding to a request made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya ( SJB) Parliament­arian Mujibur Rahuman who moved an adjournmen­t motion in Parliament calling to reconsider the decision on holding the exams as scheduled.

Mr. Rahuman pointed out that there were difficulti­es in completing syllabuses and other issues in conducting academic activities and they should reconsider the dates.

However, Dr. Pathirana pointed out that the Government was keen on completing the exams, and he said syllabuses have been completed.

According to the examinatio­n schedule announced earlier the 2021 G. C. E. O/ L exams will be held from May 23 to June 1, 2022. The 2022 Grade 5 Scholarshi­p exams will be held on October 16 and the 2022 Advanced Level exams will be held from October 17 to November 12, 2022.
