ZERO COST DEGREES: How to earn a British Degree amidst the dollar crisis

-

COVID-19 accelerated Digital Business Transformation, especially in the education sector. Quality international education including MIT, Harvard and Cornell Certifications are accessible from anywhere in the world today.

As part of a Global Learning Alliance that includes over 100 universities and HEI’s across Asia, JISC offers international careeroriented degree pathways in Software Engineering and Digital Business through in-campus blended learning. This is a unique concept where students are part of a virtual campus with batch-mates from across Asia, learning via electronic and online media, as well as traditional face-to-face learning in a physical classroom.

These are outcome based degrees with 3-year paid job-training at global tech companies integrated in to the curriculum, which allows the undergraduates earn their course fees back, making it a ‘Zero-cost’ degree. This ‘earn while you learn’ degrees are funded by Hatton National Bank, so the students could finance it independently, with a little help from their parents.

“We have a young generation born in to technology. They want to become data scientists, ethical hackers, game developers and digital entrepreneurs. They want to start businesses like Uber, Facebook and Netflix. Unfortunately, the knowledge required to achieve such aspira

tions aren’t available here or not affordable to most parents. The ones that are affordable might only provide outdated curricula.” Indu Mudalige, Managing Director of JISC said.

“That’s exactly why our degrees matter. We go beyond knowledge and develop skills and abilities too. The curriculum is developed by the industry, targeted at fulfilling tech needs of future Singapore. Grooming our graduates to be globally competitive is part of the degree. Taught by an international faculty, trained by industry experts, with a prestigious British Honours Degree plus 3-year international work experience assure our graduates a lucrative international career. They are picked up by the top global

corporates easily.”

“While professional migration becomes so much easier with this globally accredited degree that embeds work experience, those who opt to stay in Sri Lanka too could have a solid foundation to build their future: they are expected to earn a starting salary of US$ 3,600 a month, while working from home... and that’s a blessing in this economy” she further added.

JISC Campuses are in Colombo and Matara; HNB student funding is available through their branch network. This degree programme is EduTrust certified and endorsed by SkillsFutureSG; which are Singapore Government agencies. Students who enroll are registered as overseas international students of Singapore.
