Mahanama thrash DSS by 173 runs

Mahanama College thrashed their traditiona­l rivals D.S. Senanayake College by 173 runs in the 16th Battle of the Golds Limited Overs encounter played at Dambulla yesterday. D.S. Senanayake perhaps would regret their decision to bowl first as Mahanama posted a mammoth total of 290, yet were bundled out with nine deliveries to go. Koojana Perera top scored with an entertaini­ng knock of 112, as Anjana Bandara contribute­d with 62. Adeesha Bandaranay­ake claimed four wickets.

However all D.S. Senanayake could manage is to score 117 runs, as they lost all wickets with 35 deliveries remaining. For the losers

Abhishek Liyanarach­chi top scored with 46 while Dhanuja Edirisingh­e claimed three wickets. Inuka Karannagod­a and Duvindu Ranatunga shared four wickets between them.
