Monash University Partners with Prospects College for Early Childhood and Primary Education Degree Pathway

Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, recently entered into a partnershi­p with Prospects College of Higher Education (PCHE) to provide a credit transfer pathway for students who have successful­ly completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, awarded by Prospects College of Higher Education ( PCHE). Under this articulati­on agreement, students will receive credit transfer for six modules for the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education awarded by Monash University.

Commenting on this partnershi­p, the Managing Director of Prospects College of Higher Education (PCHE) Somesh Perera stated: “We have developed a reputation as a leading provider of Early Childhood Education qualificat­ions in Sri Lanka. Our Diploma programs are recognised by several leading universiti­es in Australia. We are proud to be associated with Monash University, and we believe that this partnershi­p will provide a valuable opportunit­y for students of PCHE to obtain an internatio­nally recognised Bachelor’s degree in early childhood and primary education from Monash University, whilst saving considerab­ly on tuition and living expenses.”

Associate Professor Graham Parr, Associate Dean Internatio­nal at Monash University said: “Monash’s Faculty of Education is delighted to partner with Prospects College of Higher Education ( PCHE) to provide a pathway for students into our Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood and Primary Education. Graduates of the course will be qualified to teach in both early childhood and primary

education settings. Quality early childhood education provides a strong foundation for young children to thrive, not just in school but throughout their life. There is currently strong demand for early childhood teachers who can foster the learning and key capabiliti­es of young children at a critical stage in their developmen­t, and this is projected to increase over the next few years.”

There is a growing demand for Early Childhood Educators throughout Australia and the industry is projected to further increase until 2025. It is also expected that the number of those employed as Child Careers will increase substantia­lly by 30 per cent between 2021 and 2025, making graduates of the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education de g ree, h i g h ly sought- after candidates. Early childhood educators in Au s t r a l i a earn b e t we e n AUD$ 65,000- 90,000 per year.
