Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka Introduces a Degree Pathway Programme in an Exclusive Partnership with La Trobe University, Australia

-

Students based in Sri Lanka will have an opportunity to study Business, IT and Engineering at La Trobe University, Australia, without leaving their home country, as part of a new partnership with Horizon Campus, a leading Nonstate Higher Education institution in the country.

The students will commence a one-year diploma in Sri Lanka in August 2022, taught by Horizon Campus staff, but following the La Trobe syllabus and with the students enrolled at the Australian university from the first day of the Diploma programme commencement. The diploma offers a guaranteed pathway to degree completion at La Trobe in Australia, provided that the students conform with the academic requirements.

La Trobe University Vice- Chancellor Professor John Dewar AO said the partnership reflects the University’s innovative approach to international teaching and learning.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Sri Lankan students to get a taste of Australian higher education, before they make the decision to move here to study and work. After completing a diploma in their home country – taught by local lecturers – many students will then have an opportunity to transfer to one of our campuses in Melbourne or regional Victoria, to undertake an undergraduate degree.” Professor Dewar said.

Horizon Campus Chairman, Mr Upul Daranagama, said the partnership would help Sri Lankan students improve their employability, and access high- quality Australian qualifications in their own country or pursue their dream of working and living in Australia at the end of the degree programme.

“We are extremely proud to be entering into a collaborative partnership with a renowned university like La Trobe, and know our students will benefit immensely from the quality of the educational experience, exposure to another country, and the wide range of subjects they can undertake,” Mr Daranagama said.

“I am encouraging interested students to seize the opportunity and take the first steps in achieving a degree in their choice of field.”

The first cohort of the programme is proposed to commence on 29 August 2022 in all three fields of study, with two new cohorts commencing each year thereafter. The students enrolling for the pathway programme in Sri Lanka will have the benefit of receiving their letter of acceptance from La Trobe University from the first year, making their transfer to Australia from the second year seamless. They will also be eligible for scholarships from 20% up to 100% depending on their qualifications and

extra-curricular activities undertaken at school level.

Students also have the opportunity to save up to approximately 16 million by completing the first year in Sri Lanka and also experience the all-new, state-of-theart campus premises at the Horizon Campus in Malabe.
