ICLP Certificat­e Course in Commercial Law

The Institute for the Developmen­t of Commercial Law and Practice ( ICLP) has initiated a Certificat­e on Commercial Law for the first time, focusing on the various aspects of Commercial Law commencing from 18th March 2022 to 10th September 2022. The 102 hours’ course is conducted on Saturdays from 9Am to 1.15pm via MS Teams.

The course is ideal for commercial/ corporate lawyers, Managers, any profession­al or student who has a passion to learn about commercial law. A participat­ory certificat­e will be awarded to candidates who obtains an attendance rate of 75%.

Par ticipants will g ain the knowledge on the legal framework of commercial law in Sri Lanka and other various aspects related to it. They will be taught on the salient aspects of Commercial Law such as Forms of Business Organisati­ons, Law of Contracts, Fundamenta­l rights and prerogativ­e writs in Business and Commerce, Business related offences, Company Law, Consumer rights, Hire Purchase and Leasing, Employment Law, Securities Regime, Informatio­n Technology Law, Intellectu­al Property Law, Insurance Law, Internatio­nal Commercial Contracts, Internatio­nal Tr a n s p o r t ation, Commerc i a l Arbitratio­n, Commercial Mediation etc. The lectures are taught by and eminent panel which includes Dr. K. Kanag Isvaran, PC, Dr Harsha Cabral, PC, Mr. Chandaka Jayasunder­e, PC, Ms. Shehara Varia, ( AAL), Ms. Dilshani Wijayaward­ane, ( Course Director), Mr Suren Gnanaraj, AAL, Mr. Thishya Weragoda, ( AAL), Mr. Nishan Premithira­tne, (AAL) etc.

Students, Apprentice­s, Interns, and lawyers with less than 2 years of experience will be offered 15% discount. Sessions will be offered for Rs. 2500/- each. Course fee can be paid in installmen­ts.
