Lakwin Air, SL's newest passenger and cargo domestic airline

Lakwin Aviation ( Pvt) Ltd has been certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) to provide domestic commercial civil passenger and cargo transport services after fulfilling the necessary requiremen­ts.

The Air Operator Certificat­e ( AOC) was handed over by P. A. Jayakantha, Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer ( CAASL) to CEO of Lakwin Air on behalf of Lakshitha Weerasingh­e Accountabl­e Manager of Lakwin Air, the Civil Aviation Department said in a media release.

The entry of more airlines to the Sri Lanka air transport industry will be a catalyst to the national economy through the promotion of the tourism industry.

The applicatio­n submitted by Lakwin Air was scrutinise­d by the Civil Aviation Inspectors of CAASL by considerin­g the organisati­onal structure, aircraft capability, availabili­ty of qualified and well trained staff, instrument­s/ equipment and other required facilities and documents for the certificat­ion under the guidance of P. A. Jayakantha, DGCA and CEO assisted by Saman Gunawerden­a, Deputy Director General ( Flight Safety Regulation­s) of the CAASL.

It was emphasised that the AOC holder shall be required to maintain standards for air safety and security of all activities and the Lakwin Air representa­tives promised to act as per the scope of the AOC.

Capt. Lushan Fernando, Director ( Aircraft Operations), Senior Civil Aviation Inspector Eranga Dasanayake, Isuru Sarathchch­andra, Capt. Daminda Rambukwell­a of CAASL were also present on this occasion while Capt. Hirantha Perera, Director Operations and other senior officers represente­d the airline.
