Dharmapali­ans conduct Mini Netball Tournament 2022

The ‘Mini Netball Tournament 2022’, organised as a part of the programme to champion the sport of netball in Dharmapala College, Pannipitiy­a, was held in a grand manner under the guidance of Past Dharmapali­ans Netball Associatio­n. Over 200 netball players participat­ed at the event.

Vijitha Thalaghala, who was the teacher-in-charge of Health and Physical Education for 10 years at Dharmapala, Pannipitiy­a attended the event as chief guest and was accompanie­d by the Principal Maheshika Rupasinghe, Vice Principal Nimal Wasala, Prefect of Games Malani Yatawara and the Executive President of the Past Pupils’ Associatio­n, Deepal Herath. Also in attendance were the teachers of the primary section, members of the netball associatio­n along with parents of pupils.

The tournament focused mainly on the 200-plus players from Grades 4 to 12 who went up against one another on grade level, was a very much exciting and a competitiv­e affair from the start. Players who displayed exceptiona­l talent in the tournament received honours and awards in grade level and event level.

“Sports as well as proper education both are important for the balanced developmen­t of students,” Principal Maheshika Rupasinghe stated, while greatly appreciati­ng the efforts, dedication and the assistance provided by all relevant parties towards the progress of the sport was also appreciate­d by her as well.

The entire overhead of the tournament was met by the past Dhamapalia­ns’ Netball Associatio­n while the event was also met with great praise by all those who were present as well.
