Dr. Vidanagama celebrates Independence with a new song

- (SW)

The song dedicated to the celebration of 75th Independence of Sri Lanka ‘Natamu Natamu Gee Gaya’ was telecast on National Rupavahini for the very first time on 4th of February.

The most significant factor about this song was, it was totally created by a family of four including mother and father.

The song was sung by two sisters Thimethya Vidanagama and

Januli Vidanagama of Visaka Vidyalaya Colombo. The lyrics were penned by Doctor Darshana Vidanagama, who is attached to the cardiothoracic surgical unit at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Colombo. Doctor Darshana Vidanagama, who is the father of Thimethya and Januli, created the melody and music for this song ‘Natamu Natamu Gee Gaya’. Mother Pramushka Hiruni Withanage, a software engineer by profession did the mixing and digital phase of the song, which is now available on YouTube with over thousand hits.

‘As a hobby, I write songs and create music for digital platforms. This was done by me for my daughters. My wife Pramushka Hiruni is a signer too and she released her maiden song last year. She is now working on her second single, to be released towards the midyear’ said Dr. Vidanagama.

Even at the young age, Thime and Janu are into more creative side of music and they are currently working on their new YouTube songs on ‘Pramumedia’.

I am really appreciated and much grateful to the class teacher, music teacher and the Principal of Visaka Vidyalaya, singer Keerthi Pasquel, musicians Samantha Perera, Nirupadi Perera and Mrs. Gayathri Khemadasa who had been sharing music and singing knowledge with the kids’ said Doctor Vidanagama.
