SLIIT’s Centre for Open and Distance Education (CODE) delivering next-generation technology courses launches Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning Engineer Stage 2 online Course for free

-

SLIIT’s Centre for Open and Distance Education (CODE), delivering next-generation technology courses launched the second course of SLIIT Artificial Intelligence Course Series - AI/ML Engineer Stage 2 for free via code.sliit. org. The CODE is managed by the Industry Engagement Unit of Faculty of Computing.

Stage 2 is a continuation from the Stage 1 AI/ML Engineer course launched last year providing in-depth knowledge on supervised machine learning algorithms.

Additionally, the course takes on a practical and hands-on approach to utilize the latest tools and technologies students learned during Stage 1, thus applying the advanced theoretical knowledge in Stage 2’s supervised learning approaches. The course is designed offering adequate theoretical and practical knowledge required for students to develop their own solutions for real-world problems with supervised learning algorithms.

The course curriculum includes 24 lessons, quizzes and scenario-based activities covering topics such as Linear Regression, Non-linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Decision Tree & Random Forest and Naive bayes/Support Vector Machine.

Based on feedback from Stage 1, SLIIT have devised Stage 2 as a self-paced course, enabling students to complete the course on their own timeline. After each topic students are required to complete an assessment in order to test the skills and knowledge gained. Upon successful completion of all topics and assessments, students receive a Certificate of Completion via the online platform.

“Our goal in launching SLIIT AI Course Series is to make AI, and ML education more accessible among students. We need the best minds from all backgrounds entering these fields and SLIIT aims to facilitate these opportunities for future generation, supporting the nation’s growth and prosperity,” said Prof. Chandimal Jayawardena, Pro Vice-Chancellor – Faculty of Computing.

SLIIT believes the CODE platform will empower students to maximise their potential for employability and create foreign income opportunities by working for reputed IT companies around the globe.

The CODE platform aims to launch several other stages under SLIIT AI Course Series in the future including Stage 3 - Unsupervised Learning, Stage 4 – Deep Learning and related aspects and Stage 5 – industry Applications of AI/ ML

CODE invites school leavers, non-IT graduates who are studying IT-related programmes and IT enthusiasts in order to enhance their skills and knowledge to enroll in the AI/ML Courses. All courses are free of charge and there is no restriction to the number of participants for each course. Visit code.sliit. org to access SLIIT AI Course Series for free.
