Education Ministry seeking resource persons for developing curriculum and teacher training

The Education Ministry is looking for resource persons to offer expertise when developing curriculum and teacher training in areas of Artificial Intelligen­ce (AI), STEM education, entreprene­urship, and business communicat­ion to strengthen counsellin­g and career guidance in the education sector.

Education Ministry Secretary M N Ranasinghe said the Ministry is currently in the process of compiling a directory of external resource persons and is looking for qualified, experience­d, competent, suitable persons and institutio­ns who can offer services to the education sector.

The spheres of work include curriculum developmen­t and teacher-related training in priority areas including science, technology, engineerin­g, and mathematic­s (STEM) education, English, business communicat­ion, vocational skills developmen­t, ICT and AI and entreprene­urship.

Resource persons are sought to enhance career developmen­t and counsellin­g, including aptitude testing, testing career preference­s and providing counsellin­g to students.

The Ministry is also looking for resource persons who can offer assistance in education administra­tion including the implementa­tion of the National Education Management Informatio­n System at schools, school boards, and zonal, provincial and national levels.

The Ministry Secretary urged professors, lecturers, senior teachers, educators, and school principals, retired education officers, consultant­s, profession­als, entreprene­urs, public officers, officers in the armed forces, and organisati­ons offering profession­al services to register with the Ministry. Those interested should apply on or before March 20.

Once registered with the Ministry, their services will be obtained on the basis of visits, assignment­s, contracts, projects, or invitation­s. Those selected will have to serve as a trainer of trainers/lecturers/ consultant­s in general education, technical and vocational education.

They are required to deliver their services to school teachers, principals, officers in education administra­tion and academic staff in vocational colleges of education, staff in technical and vocational institutes.
