Abans makes a difference through its ongoing CSR efforts

-

Through its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Abans Group, one of Sri Lanka’s largest conglomerates, helps to improve the lives of many, in education, environmental sustainability, health and wellness, and support for those in need.

The company has partnered with various organisations to provide education and training opportunities for underprivileged children and young adults. This includes scholarships, computer training, and vocational training courses in electronics and information technology. Through the ‘Study Buddy Abans Nena Pahana’ campaign, free educational packages were distributed for students through Abans showrooms.

Abans’ has made substantial investments in healthcare facilities, provided essential equipment and supplies to hospitals and clinics across the country, and organised health camps and other community events to raise awareness about important health issues. ‘Life is Precious…Value it!’ a discussion held in tandem with World Suicide Prevention Day, was held to raise awareness on suicide prevention and to offer support to individuals who may be struggling. Abans’ also holds an annual blood drive to satisfy the National Blood Bank’s urgent blood requirements.

The company has also financially supported organisations that work with homeless, elderly, and vulnerable people. The CSR project ‘Abans-Mistral Hithawathkama’ was launched to assist low-income families struggling with the prevailing economic situation. The ‘Abans Nanasa’ CSR project, a book donation campaign to provide prisoners with educational and self-improvement resources, stands as testament to Abans’ commitment to community service. In an admirable attempt to share the joy of Christmas with the less fortunate, Abans held a special carol service with children from the Sri Jinananda Development Centre in Wellawatte. The event ties up with its CSR initiative ‘Be Their Christmas Miracle’.
