-

Russel’s, one of the leading tea services and outdoor catering companies in Sri Lanka, is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Founded in 1988, Russel’s has been providing highquality Ceylon tea to customers around the world.

Russel’s has a rich history that began with their founder, Russel Perera. With his passion for tea and his dedication to quality, Russel started the company with his wife(Director) Bernadette Perera with a vision to serve a good cup of tea courtesy of a Sri Lankan smile. Over the years, the company has grown and expanded, but its commitment to quality has remained the same. The company has become known for its consistency in serving a good cup of tea with their signature blends, which combine the best leaves from various regions of Sri Lanka to create unique and flavourful teas.

Over three decades, the company expanded its services to include catering for events and corporate functions, offering a range of cuisine and beverages that are tailored to suit the client’s needs.

‘No corporate event in Sri Lanka is complete without the perfect cup of Russel’s tea and an array of scrumptious treats. We are thrilled to be celebrating our 35th anniversary,” said Russel Perera, the Chairman of Russel’s. ‘Our success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, family, and partners. We want to thank our clientele that has supported us over the years. We are proud to continue our family legacy, and we look forward to sharing our teas with even more people in the years to come.’

Today, Russel’s Tea is still run by the family, with the second generation’s involvement in the family business. ‘I am proud to say that Russel’s Tea has always been more than just a business to us. It is a passion and a way of life’ said Jehan Perera. ‘We have always strived to produce highquality tea while also supporting the local community. We believe that our commitment to quality and social responsibility are the foundations of our successes added his brother Rashane Perera.

The journey to success has not been an easy road for Russel’s, with numerous challenges being faced along the way. Over the years, Russel’s has become a major player in the food and beverage industry, whilst selling tea locally and internationally, making significant contributions to the local economy. In fact, Russel’s Tea has managed to stay resilient during the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic crisis that followed.

As the company celebrate their 35th anniversary, they look forward to continuing to share their love of tea with the world.
