Private hospitals to receive purchasing power boost

-

The workers at the Sint Vincentius Ziekenhuis (SVZ) will reportedly receive the purchasing power boost. Hariette Melcherts ,union chairman at the SVZ, told Times of Suriname that the talks with Vice President Ashwin Adhin and the State Health Insurance Fund (SZF) have resulted in the workers also qualifying for the financial ‘injection’.

Melcherts pointed out that the union members are content with the outcome of the talks because they also fought for the purchasing power boost which only their colleagues at the state hospitals would initially get. He also pointed out that one of these days it become clear when the workers will actually receive the monthly boost of SRD 375. The workers at the other private hospital namely the Diakonessenhuis also want to receive the purchasing power boost which is why the union will hold a meeting. The SZF issued a press release, indicating that it will make the necessary funds available so that the private hospitals will have some financial breathing room.

Manodj Hindori, general director at the St Vincentius Ziekenhuis, is pleased that the talks with the SZF have yielded positive results especially given the fact that the workers at private hospitals legally do not qualify to receive purchasing power boost directly from the government.
