-

Officers from the Regional Support Team (RBT) Paramaribo on Friday managed to arrest two robbery suspects, Gillermo D and Maikel C, along the EastWest Connection in the Commewijne District. It is suspected that the suspects had robbed a 41-year-old woman in Paramaribo earlier that day. The woman was reportedly robbed of her bag that contained two bracelets; 3 necklaces; SRD 2,000; €350; a mobile phone; health insurance cards, and ATM cards. The bag also contained a wallet with SRD 300, €140 and $50. The suspects were in a car of which the license plates had been folded. It is not clear of the men were armed. The victim told the police that she had dropped off her children at their school located along the Dr Sophie Redmondstraat before walking back to her car which was parked at the corner of the Dr Sophie Redmondstraat and the Albergastraat. The woman had put her bag in the seat next to the driver’s seat when one of the suspects opened the door and grabbed the bag. The robber whose faced was covered with a piece of cloth then jumped into a getaway car and fled the scene along with the other suspect. The officers from the special police unit were reportedly trying to track down Gillermo D who was wanted for an armed robbery that had been committ4ed several months ago. The special police unit managed to track down the suspects and cut them off.
