The nation’s premier tertiary education institution, the 8niversity of *uyana 8* is seeking participants to attend the *lobal (ntrepreneurship 3rogramme *(3 slated for -uly 23 to $ugust 3, at the 8niversity of Massachusetts, /owell in Boston, 8nited States. Second, third and fourth year students of the 8niversity of *uyana are being invited to apply for a place at the *(3, by submitting an essay of not more than 1,500 words detailing their interest in the programme, suitability and intended use of the e[perience. $ccompanying the essay should be curriculum vitae C9 . There is an opening for seven students.
The reTuired documents should be sent to gep. guyana#gmail.com by March . The majority of the trip’s e[penses will be met through fundraising and sponsorship and finalists will be e[pected to help raise funds.
The *(3 is a two-week course which consists of lectures, class discussions, case studies, group projects such as ideation and technology commerciali]ation, visits to local technology companies and incubators as well as guest speakers. The *(3 is designed to help students understand the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in today’s global economy and to cultivate an entrepreneurial mind-set.
Students will get an opportunity to work in interdisciplinary, multi-cultural environments e[ploring problem solving techniTues, opportunities identification, business concept development and venture planning using standard business model framework and bringing ideas to reality.
The *lobal (ntrepreneurship 3rogramme was started in 2014 and has grown to 670 students from 12 countries attending the two-week sessions in India, China and the 8S. Students that have participated are from the 8S, India, China, -apan, Thailand, +aiti, 1igeria, Myanmar, 3akistan, /aos and 9ietnam, along with seven *uyanese students who attended in 2015 and 2016.
The Institute of (ducation International II( has named the university’s *lobal (ntrepreneurship ([change *(2 programme as the winner of a 2018 II( $ndrew +eiskell $ward for Innovation in International (ducation.
The Institute of International (ducation II( created the +eiskell awards in 2001 to promote and honor the most outstanding initiatives that are being conducted in international higher education by II(1etwork member universities and colleges. The *(2 programme will receive the ³Best 3ractice Resource Study $broad´ award at the II(’s annual Best 3ractices in Internationali]ation Conference in 1ew <ork City on March 16.
