ABOS to support NGM

-

The General Interests Organization Suriname (ABOS) recently started mobilizing Amerindians and Maroons for today’s rally at the Monument for Justice and Peace located along the Dr Sophie Redmondstraat. Martin Atentio, chairman of the ABOS, pointed out that his organization will support the rally that is being organized by the Next Generation Movement (NGM). Xaviera Jessurun, founder of NGM, explained that as of April 12 a new phase of protest against the government would commence. “The Indigenous and the Maroons are being mobilized because the land rights issue still has not been resolved. We try to mobilize everybody but the emphasis was placed on the Indigenous and the Maroons. The ABOS is no stranger within the community when it comes to letting its voice be heard about that things are right in the country. This government consists of people who fill their wallets and people who only say yes. One could say so much about things that are going wrong but they will never admit that they are doing things wrong. This government is busy deceiving the people. The government consists of so many so-called experts but the keeps deteriorating every day. This has to stop and if all of us take to the streets it must stop,” said Atentio. The Next Generation Movement deems April 12 as the third day of its protests. As of today a different theme will be highlighted on each day of protests. Today’s theme is Healthcare.
