2pposition Zants to discuss healthcare sector
Ten members of the opposition on Monday requested a special meeting so that legislators can discuss the nation’s healthcare sector.
The legislators explained to the chairwoman of Parliament, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, that many things are wrong with the healthcare sector which is why it is necessary for the nation’s MPs to focus their attention on the issue. The MPs pointed out that the healthcare sector has not improved although the government emphasized in the development plan for 2017-2021 and the annual speech of 2018 that the healthcare sector must be prioritized. The MPs pointed out that citizens are constantly being confronted with the fact that medicines are either out of stock or that their State Health Insurance Fund (SZF) does not cover the medicines. People with a card from the SZF have to cover additio- nal costs even though they pay health insurance every month. Several payments are not made on time within the healthcare sector which is why strikes are looming. The MPs also complained that many things are still vague about the recent purchases that were made abroad by the Ministry of Health. The MPs have already invited the government to share information regarding these issues so that structural solutions can be found. The request for a special meeting was made by: MP Asiskumar Gajadien (VHP), MP Mahinderkoemar Jogi (VHP), MP Krishna Mathoera (VHP), MP Dew Sharman (VHP), MP Marinus Bee (ABOP), MP William Waidoe (PL) MP Ingrid Karta-Bink (PL), MP Gregory Rusland (NPS), MP Patricia Etnel (NPS) and MP Carl Breeveld (DOE).
