PL failed to mention that Waidoe had been ousted
It would appear that the chairwoman of parliament, Jennifer Geerlings, did not make any mistakes on July 2 when she gave William Waidoe the opportunity to speak on behalf of the PL party even though Waidoe had joined the National Democratic Party last month. The letter which the PL reportedly sent to the chairwoman on May 17 does not mention that Waidoe is no longer a member of the PL faction. The letter only indicates that Waidoe is no longer the acting leader of the faction and that faction leader Paul Somohardjo and the new acting faction leader Ingrid Karta-Bink would represent the PL in all of the parliamentary commissions where the PL has a seat. The PL failed to mention explicitly that Waidoe is no longer a member of the PL faction. MP Waidoe seized this loophole by expressing condolences on behalf of the PL to the two families whose children perished in two separate house fires on July 2. He also seized the opportunity to slam the VHP party. MP Karta-Bink and Geerlings-Simons reportedly bickered last week because of the issue.
Karta-Bink assumed that after having read the letter, one would assume that the PL had no other members other than the faction leader and the acting faction leader. Geerlings-Simons made it clear that the letter does not specifically mention anything about the position of Waidoe. She added that the announcement by MP Karta-Bink had made it clear that Waidoe is no longer a member of the PL faction.
