VHP chairman promises turnaround for Suriname

-

Chandrikapersad Santokhi, the chairman of the Progressive Reform Party (VHP), made several promises during the celebration of the orange party’s 71st birthday on Saturday. If the VHP wins the elections of May 25, 2020, the chairman will make sure that citizens will have better times after two years. The plans aimed at boosting the turnaround and rebuilding Suriname were presented to Santokhi on Saturday. Riad Nurmohamed who is a high ranking member of the VHP also presented the election program 2020 to the chairman. Santokhi pointed out that the party wants to provide free education and free school bus rides to people who are younger than 18. These plans are part of the bigger plan which is to rebuild the country. The VHP also wants to address the land rights issue, repair the economy and the healthcare sector, lower the price of US dollars and tackle corruption firmly. “The Election Program 2020 was written by national and international experts. The things that were presented by the people during the Meet-The People Campaign are also included in the election program. “We listened to their needs. The program was also formulated for them. Once the party ends up in the center of power, I will make sure that the natural resources will be used to benefit the nation and not just for a small elite group. The best thing that the current administration can do, is to pack up and make room for better rulers. But now all of the people of the current administration will go home. Some of them will go to jail. The time has come for the Orange Movement to run this country”, said Santokhi who is also a lawmaker.
