New state employees report for duty
About 40 people reported for duty at the District Commissioner’s Office in Nickerie on Monday. These new state employees received their papers from a legislator of the National Democratic Party (NDP). Resort Council Member Chaitram Adhin told Times of Suriname that the new employees have been given an office worker status while the DC’s Office actually needed field workers. The official papers indicate that they were hired in March. Adhin pointed out that three policy advisors also reported for duty on Friday. District Commissioner
Nisha KurbanBaboe confirmed that new employees have reported for duty but claimed that she could not mention an exact number. The Personnel Affairs Division is reportedly still busy processing the papers of the new employees. Adhin disapproved of the manner in which the previous administration handled certain things. He claimed that people who do not even have a Mulo diploma have been promoted to district secretary or deputy district secretary while those with diplomas were ignored. “Loyalists of the party were accommodated at the eleventh hour.” He also claimed that loyalists have been given the property deeds of government buildings. According to Adhin, he has the evidence to prove that fraud has been committed. He claimed that the gates of sluices were replaced for extremely high sums of money and that somebody had a gas station located in Paramaribo sent the bills to the Mungra Medical Center even though the two vehicles are not the property of the hospital that is located in the Nickerie District.
