DC Jurel warns vacation resorts: “You must stay closed”

-

The district commissioner of Para, Armand Jurel, warned the vacation resorts that are located in his district to stay closed for the public. He issued yet another warning after reports indicated that the vacation resorts are still allowing people who want to relax to enter the premises. DC Jurel made it clear that these vacation resorts risk losing their permit. He explained that the vacation resorts must remain closed to stop COVID19 from spreading. The owners of vacation resorts, plantations and the village chiefs have once again been urged to stick to the precautionary COVID19 measures. JC Jurel pointed out that citizens flock to the vacation resorts and that they ignore the COVID19 measures. People have been spotted relaxing along and in the Suriname River at Plantation Ayo/Carolina. Revelers also flock to Plantation La Prosperité to party in and around the creek located at Bersaba. The DC has reportedly instructed the police to beef up surveillance and to take firm action against stubborn revelers. It is also forbidden to people to gather and drink alcohol in front of stores. The police will also take action against these gatherings. The government urges everybody to fully support the decision to keep the vacation resorts closed by steering clear from these public and private swimming facilities.
